I had a great mentor once tell me to celebrate yourself each day, so this is now a mantra and affirmation I live by. Through personal experiences, I have learned to develop many helpful skills to promote my own positive mental health that I love to share with others. These are centered in mindfulness, self-awareness, radical acceptance, and self-care. Some of my favorite things to do to maintain a positive mental state are working with others, spending time with my family, listening to music, meditating, reading, journaling, and being outdoors. I like challenging myself to do something different every day and that includes things like taking a new way home, learning fun facts, and keeping household chores interesting.
I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family. I have a blended family of 6 kids and 4 grandchildren with my husband that I just adore spending time with. I love the water so my favorite places to travel include anywhere with good sand and waves, or a good hot springs location. I scuba dive, snorkel, and love to just relax on the beach, enjoying all the local spots. I grew up and currently live in Davis County but also lived in Hawaii in 2012. Living in Hawaii taught me a lot about aloha and living in the moment. It was one of the most transcendental experiences of my life. Here in Utah, I find my passion for water at Causey and Pineview as they are my favorite places to unwind and reconnect with myself and nature. My husband and I also love live music so if we are not traveling or in the water somewhere, we are at a live concert, preferably outdoors. One of my favorite concert venues in Utah is Red Butte Gardens for their summer concert series. I hold very true to my name as well with the summertime being my favorite season. You will almost always find me wearing sandals, even in the winter! I also enjoy movies and the occasional binge watching when I need some time indoors. My all-time favorite tv series is Twin Peaks.
"My philosophy as a therapist is to always hold unconditional positive regard for my clients, meeting them where they are in every session. I truly believe everyone holds the power within them to heal but we all need help at times to discover this strength within us. I believe my job is to be one of guiding, teaching, and supporting while I empower these abilities from you, gaining confidence along the way. I use my own personal journey to influence my therapeutic approach, staying mindful of client needs. A huge inspiration on my own path of healing and self-discovery has come from one of my favorite authors, Dan Millman, who wrote the Way of the Peaceful Warrior saga. I have many favorite quotes from his writings but one that holds the most truth for me is “there are no ordinary moments” which helps me stay present and focused. This teaches that every moment is a learning opportunity and that even the everyday moments can hold special awareness when practicing this mindfulness. "
